The Christmas Island Marathon is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2012 and we’d like to invite all runners past and present to celebrate with us.
The origins of the Marathon lie in
Christmas Island folklore and began as a wager between a few Island Hash
House Harriers but it has since grown to become an internationally
listed event.
The events on offer are:
- 42 KM Marathon (Open male/female, Masters male/female, Open Team 18+)
- 21 KM Half Marathon (Open male/female, Masters male/female 35+, School Based Team)
- 10 KM Challenge (Open male/female, Masters male/female 35+, Junior male/female 12-16yrs)
- 5 KM Dash (Open male/female, Masters male/female, Junior male/female 12-16yrs)
This scenic and challenging course starts
at the top of the island 260m above sea level and runs on roads
surrounded by tropical rainforests. All events showcase the unique and
beautiful environment Christmas Island offers and finish in the
Settlement area.
